Tonight Irvine PONY's Shetland Red and Mustang Red teams were honored by the Orange County Flyers, a professional baseball team based in Fullerton, CA. The kids were brought out in-between a double header between the Flyers and the Calgary Vipers. They lined up along the first base line and the announcer called out the player's names. The kids then doffed their caps and received a plaque memorializing their season. It was a real nice treat for the boys arranged by Lee Cottone and Pete Stankovich. Lee's Mustang team was the second runner up at the PONY Super Regionals, and of course, if you follow this blog, you'll already know that the Shetland Red team won their Section and then the World Series in Chino Hills.
Aidan and Zac do their part to represent Irvine, while I tracked down Greg Grunberg and got my picture taken with him. Greg was there for a "celebrity appearance" promoting his current side project "Band from TV." The Orange County Flyers are owned, in part, by James Denton, who is also in Band from TV.
Greg was there with his wife and three kids and was gracious enough to take a moment to pose for a photo.
You can find the rest of the photos from the evening here.
