The newly-formed Irvine Vipers won the SoCal USSSA 2010 Easter Classic this past Easter weekend. The Vipers opened the weekend with an 11-3 mercy of the Die Hards, then fell in the next game in the double-header to the Camarillo Pirates 6-5, but based on run differential held the edge and received the top seed in their pool. On Saturday, the boys opened up with an amazing come-from-behind 11-10 victory over the Die Hards (capped by a battle at the plate ending with a clutch walkoff double by Connor Kentros), then finished the tournament with an anti-climatic 9-1 mercy of the Camarillo Pirates in the Championship game. Notable performances include: Nathan te Pas had a .566 AVG and 9 RBIs; Grant Lockwood and Andy Park had solo home runs; Connor O'Brien pitched 4 2/3 innings with a 0.00 ERA and 3 Ks; Anthony Nemeth pitching 3 innings with a 0.00 ERA and 4 Ks.
